
Major Ashley Wilson MSc
Having commissioned into the Corps of Royal Engineers in 2008, her 15 years military service has seen her stationed throughout the UK as well as completing several tours of Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands. She is a Ministry of Defence (MoD) capability and acquisition specialist, with experience in all Defence Equipment, Digital and Infrastructure delivery teams. She has also worked extensively on customer side requirements for synthetic training communications and energy. In 2021, she won a full time PhD sponsorship to enable her research on overcoming barriers to renewable generation and storage on the Defence Estate. Her applied research is being implemented under the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Future Energy Provision (FEP) project which is influential on Head Office Energy Strategy. A key area of the research focusses on enabling Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to facilitate the transition to a secure, cheaper and greener decentralised energy supply.
